Tours, tickets and working with us

We don't run tours in Yilan. Our own small, local-led days out are being built down south, in Tainan, and you can follow that on Inside Tainan. For Yilan, we'd rather point you to good options than leave you guessing.

Booking tours and activities

Yilan is easy to see on your own by bus and train, but a few things work best with a booked operator: the boat trips around Guishan Island, whale watching from Wushi Harbor and a day in the mountains without a car.

Klook. A travel-experiences platform that is especially strong across Asia, with Yilan day tours, Guishan Island boat trips and transport. It takes an overseas credit card. → klook.com

GetYourGuide. A major global marketplace for tours and day trips, with traveler reviews. Good for comparing and booking in one place. → getyourguide.com

Tripadvisor. Best used to cross-check an operator's traveler ratings before you book. → tripadvisor.com

Yilan County Government. The county's official site, with tourism news, events and notices. → e-land.gov.tw

Good to know: landing on Guishan Island needs a permit, and the island closes to landings in winter and to sightseeing visitors every Wednesday. If you live in Taiwan, foreign residents with an ARC included, you apply online 11 to 20 days ahead. Overseas tourists can apply on the landing day at the scenic area's counter at Wushi Harbor with a passport, but that covers the permit, not the boat: contact a licensed boat operator ahead to arrange your trip. Our Guishan Island page explains how it works (rules checked November 2026).
